Posted

The Starter Company Plus program is funded by the Government of Ontario and delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia. The program is designed to help entrepreneurs start, grow or buy a business. Participants receive mentorship from experienced business professionals, access to valuable training and networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to pitch for up to $5,000 in micro-grants.

The Small Business Centre team is excited to share the companies they had the chance to work with last fall.

Interview with Trish

  1. What is your favourite part about being an entrepreneur?

My favourite part of being an entrepreneur is the independence and freedom.

2. What inspired you to start a business?

My son. I knew I wanted to create a business that allowed me to be home with him more, and also follow my dream of building something I could one day pass on to him.

  1. What services/ products do you offer?

PMZ Bookkeeping offers full lifecycle bookkeeping services including but not limited to: monthly bank reconciliation, expense tracking, accounts receivable/payable and payroll. We offer custom-packaged services to fit our clients’ unique needs, as well as Essential, Growth, Startup Foundations and QuickBooks Kickstart packages.

4. Who do you look up to for inspiration when it comes to either being an entrepreneur or your business?

Kay Diouf, who is prominent in my field and has taught me so much.

  1. How did you come up with your business name?

I wanted something unique that hadn’t been used before, so I decided to use my initials because what’s more unique than that?

6. What is unique about your business?

What’s unique about my business is that I specialize in start-ups and small businesses, offering guidance and support to navigate the complexities of setting up and maintaining financial systems. I have also created systems for being completely paperless, using simple cloud-based tools which provide an efficient way to streamline operations and protect the environment.

  1. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through your entrepreneurial journey?

I am capable of much more than I ever realized.

  1. What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another entrepreneur?

Believe in yourself and the value you have to offer.
