The Summer Company program is funded by the government of Ontario and delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia. The program is designed to empower young entrepreneurs aged 15 to 29 by providing them with the resources and support they need to start and run their own summer businesses. Participants receive up to $3,000 in financial assistance, mentorship from experienced business professionals, and access to valuable training and networking opportunities.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
What I enjoy most about being an entrepreneur is the productive feeling it gives me. I feel like I’m accomplishing something significant this summer, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to see the impact of my work.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through your entrepreneurial journey?
I’ve learned that sales are very difficult at first, but with dedication and practice, they become more successful. This has been a surprising and valuable lesson in perseverance.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another youth entrepreneur?
The best piece of advice I would give is to embrace failure as a learning opportunity. It’s crucial to view setbacks as chances to learn and grow, rather than letting them discourage you.
What do you hope to achieve through the Summer Company program?
Through the Summer Company program, I hope to achieve a stable source of income and gain essential skills that will help me in the future. Additionally, I aim to cover tuition and university fees, setting a solid foundation for my continued success.
