The Summer Company program is funded by the government of Ontario and delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia. The program is designed to empower young entrepreneurs aged 15 to 29 by providing them with the resources and support they need to start and run their own summer businesses. Participants receive up to $3,000 in financial assistance, mentorship from experienced business professionals, and access to valuable training and networking opportunities.

Meet Emmett and CleanCuts Lawn and Services
Emmett Lepage is the owner and operator of CleanCuts Lawn and Services, serving Tiny and surrounding areas. His business offers a comprehensive range of services, including grass cutting, yard cleanups, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, mulch laying, and various odd jobs. Emmett’s goal is to provide top-notch, reliable lawn and property maintenance services that enhance the beauty and functionality of outdoor spaces.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
What I enjoy most about being an entrepreneur is being my own boss and controlling my work environment. I also really like engaging with the customers I provide services for.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through your entrepreneurial journey?
The most surprising thing has been how well things have gone so far. Additionally, the strong connections I’ve established with my customers have been unexpectedly rewarding.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another youth entrepreneur?
The best advice I can give is to not be afraid of reaching out to people and putting yourself out there. Networking and visibility are key to getting noticed.
What do you hope to achieve through the Summer Company program?
I hope to use the Summer Company program to establish my business for the current year and set a strong foundation for continued growth in the years to come.
