The Summer Company program is funded by the government of Ontario and delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia. The program is designed to empower young entrepreneurs aged 15 to 29 by providing them with the resources and support they need to start and run their own summer businesses. Participants receive up to $3,000 in financial assistance, mentorship from experienced business professionals, and access to valuable training and networking opportunities.

Meet Emmett and ECFILMED
Emmett is the creative force behind ECFILMED, a dynamic videography and photography brand dedicated to capturing memorable moments, with a particular focus on sports and commercial content. Emmett's passion for sports, which he developed as a young athlete, drives his desire to capture the experiences of others. Through ECFILMED, Emmett combines his skills in videography and photography, offering clients a comprehensive service that includes everything from camera work to drone footage and editing. His goal is to bring his clients’ aspirations to life, creating visually stunning content that resonates with their needs.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
Being able to guide myself and be in charge of capturing key moments in companies and people’s lives.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through your entrepreneurial journey?
There is no finish line, just checkpoints. Go, go, go!
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another youth entrepreneur?
Be patient but know your worth. Don’t undervalue yourself!
What do you hope to achieve through the Summer Company program?
I hope to be able to find where I want ECFILMED to go in the future.
