The Summer Company program is funded by the government of Ontario and delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia. The program is designed to empower young entrepreneurs aged 15 to 29 by providing them with the resources and support they need to start and run their own summer businesses. Participants receive up to $3,000 in financial assistance, mentorship from experienced business professionals, and access to valuable training and networking opportunities.

Meet Emma and EmRey Music
Emma is a dynamic musician and singer who brings lively, energetic performances to restaurants, festivals, and various events. Operating under the name EmRey Music, Emma offers a vibrant blend of popular covers and original songs, spanning genres like country, pop, and rock. Her goal is to create memorable musical experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
I enjoy that I am able to do what I love every day for work! I also love inspiring young girls to follow their dreams and to never give up.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through your entrepreneurial journey?
I’ve discovered that I am very determined. When I set my mind to a goal, I will make it happen.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another youth entrepreneur?
Stay focused on your goals and follow your dreams!
What do you hope to achieve through the Summer Company program?
I hope to make more connections in the entrepreneur industry and continue to learn how to grow my business.
