It’s that time again! Barrie’s 2025 Annual Business and Employer Data Survey has officially begun. Each year, this survey helps us get a clearer picture of our local economy. The data collected gives us a look into what sectors are growing, how jobs are evolving, and where support is needed most. By taking just a few minutes to participate, businesses across Barrie help shape decisions that directly impact economic development. Your insights help the city build a better and stronger future for everyone!
This summer, we have four bright students who make up the Business and Employer Data Survey team. You’ll see them out and about, visiting and surveying businesses across Barrie. If they stop by your business, make sure to give them a warm welcome!
Here’s a little bit more about our team of students:
Sam S.
Hey! I'm Sam, one of four Data Collection Assistants working on the 2025 Business and Employer Data Survey. I'm currently studying Economics at Queen’s University, and this summer I’m excited to gain hands-on experience exploring the economic landscape of my hometown, the City of Barrie. Through this position, I hope to learn more about local economic trends and discover more about the small businesses that help drive Barrie’s economy — all while putting my academic knowledge into real-world practice.
Alyssia D.
My name is Alyssia, and I am one of the Data Collection Assistants working for the City of Barrie. I will be going into my third year of school at Centennial College in the fall. I will be finishing my last year of the Child and Youth Care program and looking to widen my education and adventure into a new program for my fourth year. I am also a student athlete at the college playing for the Women’s Varsity Soccer team. I am looking forward to visiting and exploring new businesses and learning more about what the City of Barrie has to offer!
Talia B.
Hello! My name is Talia, and I am currently attending Brock University, where I am entering my fourth year of my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After I complete my bachelor’s, I am planning on completing a master’s degree, and perhaps a doctorate. In my time working on the survey, I am excited to gain more experience dealing with data collection and handling. I’m also looking forward to networking and getting to know more about my community in Barrie!
Jenna B.
Hi! My name is Jenna, and I am entering my third year at the University of Ottawa for a joint degree in economics and political science. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to further my education and pursue a career in law or the government sector. With a strong interest in public policy, I look forward to researching trends with Invest Barrie this summer and expanding my connection with our community's various businesses!
